Life Savers Ambulance Service – Rail Ambulance
Safe, Reliable, and Affordable Bed-to-Bed Patient Transfers
Life Savers Ambulance Service provides specialized rail ambulance services across India, ensuring smooth and secure long-distance patient transport. Our focus is on patient comfort, critical care support, and hassle-free coordination from one bed to another.

What is a Train Ambulance?
A train ambulance is a specially arranged medical transportation service that uses the Indian Railways (IRCTC) network to transfer patients over long distances. A reserved coach (2nd AC preferred, but 1st AC may be arranged depending on availability) is modified and equipped with ICU-grade facilities like ventilator, oxygen, monitoring systems, and other emergency medical equipment.
The patient is continuously monitored and cared for by trained doctors and paramedics throughout the journey. This makes it a safe and cost-effective option for patients who need critical care during intercity transfers.
Advantages of Rail Ambulance over Air Ambulance
Cost-Effective
Rail ambulance is significantly more affordable compared to air ambulance, with charges ranging approximately from ₹70,000 to ₹1,50,000 (inclusive of doctors and medical equipment).
More Space & Comfort
Train coaches (generally 2nd AC preferred, with 1st AC arranged based on availability) allow easier accommodation of equipment and attendants, providing a less stressful environment.
Wider Accessibility
With the help of the IRCTC network, rail ambulances can reach destinations where air ambulance services may not be available or feasible.
Stable Transport
Train travel avoids turbulence and weather-related delays that sometimes affect air travel. Ideal for patients who require continuous ICU monitoring but do not need urgent air transfers.
Note: Final pricing may vary depending on distance, route availability, and the patient’s medical condition.

The patient was transported in a 2nd AC reserved coach with full ICU backup including ventilator, invasive arterial BP monitoring, multipara monitor, and continuous oxygen supply. A doctor and paramedic accompanied the patient throughout the 26-hour journey, ensuring stable vital signs and timely interventions whenever required. This service provided a safe, reliable, and cost-effective alternative to air ambulance transport.
Mumbai to Kolkata
A patient on high-flow oxygen therapy and continuous medication infusion needed long-distance transport. The rail ambulance 2nd AC coach was fully equipped with ventilator, infusion pumps, and monitoring systems. The doctor and paramedic team monitored oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and other vitals throughout the journey. The patient reached the destination safely without complications, at a fraction of the cost of air transport.
Bangalore (NIMHANS) to Delhi
A post-neurosurgery patient required critical monitoring during the transfer.
