Successful Critical Care Transport of a High-Risk COPD Patient
Our critical care transport team successfully executed the inter-hospital transfer of a 58-year-old male diagnosed with severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) complicated by community-acquired pneumonia. The patient was transferred from Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh to Shri Action Balaji Hospital, Paschim Vihar.
High-Risk Transport Challenges
The patient was on BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) with high oxygen demand of 20 L/min. He had unstable vital signs requiring intensive respiratory and hemodynamic monitoring throughout the transfer.
- High oxygen dependency
- Risk of sudden respiratory fatigue
- Fluctuating blood pressure
- Need for emergency airway management readiness
Expert Life Savers Ambulance Intervention
Our team deployed an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ICU ambulance staffed with a critical care doctor and trained paramedic. Real-time monitoring and timely interventions ensured safety across every kilometer.
Final Outcome
Despite a life-threatening respiratory condition, the patient arrived safely and was handed over to the receiving hospital team in stable condition.
