Safe Transfer of a High-Risk Patient: A Case of Precision & Care

Transporting critically ill patients isn’t just about moving them—it’s about stabilization, vigilance, and expert clinical management.

Recently, the Life Savers Ambulance team was called to transfer a 150 kg high-risk patient from Nangloi to LNJP Hospital. The patient, diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Pneumonia, was dependent on NIV support and at significant risk of acute respiratory distress.

Challenges During Transport

  • Ensuring uninterrupted NIV support to prevent hypoxia
  • Managing obesity-related handling & safety challenges
  • Continuous monitoring for sudden respiratory failure
  • Careful movement to avoid desaturation or airway compromise

A trained critical care team executed the transfer with precision and continuous observation of ventilation parameters.

Outcome

Thanks to expert planning and seamless coordination, the patient was transported safely, ensuring stability throughout the journey. Another mission accomplished in the race against time!
