Critical Rail Ambulance Transfer From Max Hospital Delhi To Ranchi
A very sick elderly patient suffering from multi-organ failure was shifted from Max Hospital, Delhi to Ranchi in Life Savers Rail Ambulance. He was fully ventilator-dependent with high ventilatory settings and critically high oxygen demand.
Due to the long-distance journey, multiple oxygen cylinders were arranged to ensure uninterrupted supply throughout the travel duration.
Major Clinical Challenges Managed
- Continuous Fentanyl and Atracurium infusion for respiratory support
- Very frequent tracheal suctioning via tracheostomy
- Compromised kidney function requiring carefully regulated IV fluids with strict urine monitoring
- Regular blood sugar monitoring via glucometer
- Continuous monitoring of vitals with a multi-parameter monitor
- Frequent repositioning to prevent pressure sores
A 22-Hour Life-Saving Journey
After a long journey of nearly 22 hours, the patient reached Ranchi railway station safely. On arrival, a Life Savers ACLS ambulance was already arranged for bed-to-bed transfer to the receiving hospital.
The mission demanded expert clinical judgment, precise care, and teamwork. The crew successfully managed the patient throughout despite the complexity and severity of the condition.
A highly commendable medical transfer executed by Dr. Pradeep Gupta and the Life Savers critical care team.
